Privacy Policy

Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how PaperTrace (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use our iOS application (the “App”).

By using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

Information We Collect

We design the App so that personal content you create generally stays on your device. We do not require you to create an account to use the core features of the App.

Information you provide or create on your device
• Photos you choose from your photo library to import for tracing or Photo to Sketch
• Sketches and images you save in the App (for example Saved Sketches)
• Favorites and recent-drawing history stored as template identifiers
• App preferences you adjust (for example default opacity, grid, and haptic settings)
• Feedback you choose to send us by email (such as your email address and message content)

Information related to template delivery
• When cloud template delivery is enabled, your device may request publicly available template metadata and artwork files. Those requests involve standard network technical data handled by our cloud providers (described below).

Advertising-related information
• When ads are shown, Google AdMob and its partners may process advertising-related information as described in “Advertising (Google AdMob)” below. This can include device and ad-interaction information. The App does not currently request App Tracking Transparency permission to access the device’s advertising identifier (IDFA) for tracking across apps and websites owned by other companies.

We do not operate a user profile system that uploads your imported photos, saved sketches, or camera feed to our Firebase project for storage as personal media.

Camera and Photos

Camera
The App requests camera access so you can overlay a drawing template on a live camera preview and trace onto paper or another surface. Live camera frames are processed on your device for that tracing experience. We do not upload your live camera feed to our servers or to Firebase.

Photo Library
The App may request access to your photo library so you can select images to import, convert (Photo to Sketch), and/or trace. Images you import are stored locally in the App’s on-device storage (application sandbox), together with related local metadata, unless you later choose to share or export them yourself using iOS share/export features.

Saved sketches and imported photos
Saved sketches and imported photos created in the App are stored on your device. Based on the App’s current implementation, they are not uploaded to Cloud Firestore or Firebase Storage as part of normal App use.

You can revoke camera or photo permissions at any time in iOS Settings. Some features will not work without those permissions. Deleting the App removes local App data from that device.

How We Use Information

We use information to:
• Provide tracing, drawing templates, favorites, Photo to Sketch, saved sketches, and related App features
• Remember your preferences on your device
• Deliver and cache drawing templates and artwork
• Show advertisements through Google AdMob (where permitted), and to honor applicable advertising consent choices via Google’s User Messaging Platform
• Respond to support requests you send us
• Comply with applicable law and enforce our Terms of Use

We do not sell your personal information.

Google Firebase Services

The App uses Google Firebase services to operate the drawing-template library when cloud delivery is enabled:

What this means in practice
• Your device downloads template catalog data and artwork for display and tracing
• Downloaded artwork may be cached on your device to improve performance
• The App’s current implementation uses Firestore and Storage for reading/downloading template content; it does not use those services to upload your personal photos, camera frames, favorites list, or saved sketches as user media

Firebase and related Google services may process standard technical and diagnostic information associated with network requests (for example IP address, device/app identifiers used for security, delivery, integrity, and abuse prevention), according to Google’s terms and privacy documentation.

Advertising (Google AdMob)

The App uses Google AdMob to display advertisements (for example interstitial and rewarded ads as those features are enabled).

Google and its advertising partners may process information such as:
• Device information (for example device type, operating system, and app version)
• IP address
• Advertising-related identifiers where permitted by platform rules and your choices
• Ad interactions (such as views and clicks)
• Diagnostic and performance information related to ad delivery

App Tracking Transparency / IDFA
The App does not currently present an App Tracking Transparency prompt and is not configured to request permission to track you across other companies’ apps and websites using the device’s advertising identifier (IDFA). Advertising may still occur using other permitted signals and Google’s advertising systems, subject to consent requirements where applicable.

Consent (UK / EEA and similar)
Where required (including for many users in the United Kingdom and European Economic Area), the App uses Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) to request and record privacy/consent choices before personalized ads are requested. Depending on your region and choices, you may see Google’s consent message, and ads may be limited or unavailable if consent is not obtained when required.

Google’s advertising and privacy information is available at:
https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads
https://policies.google.com/privacy

You can also review advertising-related controls available in your device settings and, where required, privacy options presented through Google’s consent/messaging tools.

Purchases

If in-app purchases or subscriptions are offered, payments are processed by Apple. We do not receive your full payment card details. Apple’s privacy practices apply to payment processing.

Data Storage and Retention

We retain information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, unless a longer period is required by law.

Children’s Privacy

The App is a drawing and learning tool that may appeal to a broad audience, including younger users. It is intended as a general-audience App rather than a social network, chat product, or service that creates online accounts for children.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age required in your country) for the purpose of building marketing profiles or online accounts. Content such as imported photos and saved sketches remains on the device under the App’s current design.

Parents and guardians: if you believe a child has provided personal information to us (for example by emailing support), contact us at davidhughes2006@outlook.com and we will take appropriate steps.

Note about App Store ratings and advertising configuration: how the App is age-rated, marketed, and configured for child-directed advertising can affect legal obligations (including under children’s privacy laws and ad-platform rules). Those distribution choices are controlled by the publisher and may be updated over time.

Your Choices and Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain personal information, or to object to certain processing. Because much of your content stays on your device, many controls are available directly in the App or in iOS Settings (including camera and photo permissions).

Where Google’s consent message or privacy options apply, you can use those tools to manage advertising consent choices.

To make a privacy request, email us at davidhughes2006@outlook.com. We may need to verify your request before responding.

Security

We take reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

International Users

If you use the App from outside the country where our service infrastructure or providers operate, your information (including standard network technical data and advertising-related data processed by Google) may be processed in countries with different data-protection laws. Where required, appropriate safeguards are used for such transfers by us and/or our providers.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version in the App (and on the public web page when published) and revise the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the App after changes become effective means you accept the updated Policy.
